About This Role:\
Design \| Urbanism\
*The successful candidate will demonstrate interest and ability to
teach architectural design studios. Entry-level studios require the
ability to teach fundamental design skills, including spatial and formal
composition, graphics, and modeling techniques, while upper-level
studios require the ability to teach the design and technical skills
necessary to resolve and document architectural intent from the urban
scale to the detail. Demonstrated excellence in teaching architectural
design studios across the curriculum is preferred.\

The successful candidate will collaborate in the revisioning of teaching
urban design within the department. They will provide leadership and
expertise on the integration of urban design principles throughout the
curriculum and design studio sequence. This includes the synthesis of
theoretical and applied knowledge with design strategies for addressing
the social, environmental, and spatial issues of our cities.\

The successful candidate will develop and teach a required introductory
lecture course in urbanism to third-year architecture students. The
course will provide students with practical spatial design strategies
and analytical tools, as well as foundational historical and theoretical
knowledge in urban design and analysis. In addition, they will have the
interest and ability to develop and teach elective seminars that present
advanced analyses and theoretical positions in urban design based on
their area of expertise and will develop a research/creative agenda
related to this expertise. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to teach at the Kansas City Design Center, a nationally
recognized, service-learning urban design program in Kansas City. This
strategic resource offers students and faculty unique opportunities for
community engaged design studios and applied research projects.\

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:\
Minimum Qualifications:
- Terminal professional degree in Architecture (Post-baccalaureate
MArch or equivalent).
- Professional practice experience in architecture sufficient to have
fulfilled the experience requirement for licensure.
- Interest and ability to teach architectural design studios.
- Interest and ability to develop and teach an introductory lecture
course in urbanism.
- Interest and ability to develop and teach elective seminars in their
area of expertise.
- Interest and ability to develop a scholarly/creative agenda related
to their area of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or related field.
- Extensive and creative professional practice experience in
architecture.
- Architectural license.
- Excellence in teaching urban design.
- Excellence in teaching architectural design studios across the
curriculum.
- Established scholarly/creative agenda.
- Record of service to the academic and professional communities.
