About This Role:\
The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of
Veterinary Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated
individual to join our team as a Research Assistant Professor in the
KSVDL. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to
cutting-edge research in animal health diagnostics and make a
significant impact on animal welfare and public health.\
\
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct and oversee research activities focused on the development
and improvement of diagnostic assays and techniques for detecting
infectious diseases in animals. For example, molecular assays and
direct fluorescent antibody testing, PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement
research projects aimed at addressing critical issues in animal
health.
- Participate in sample processing, data analysis, and quality control
procedures.
- Development and validation of new laboratory tests, assays and
equipment
- Train laboratory staff, students, and research assistants involved
in research projects.
- Participate in grant writing, manuscript editing and literature
reviews towards research and publication efforts.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines
governing laboratory activities (AAVLD, CLIA).

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:\
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related
field.
- Demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
environment.
- Commitment to laboratory safety and biosafety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral research experience in animal health diagnostics or
related fields.
- Experience with bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data.
- Familiarity with diagnostic assays for viruses, bacteria, and or
parasites.
- Experience in managing research projects and supervising research
personnel.
- Demo strated success in obtaining extramural funding for research
projects.
