Senior Associate General Counsel\

About This Role:\
This position provides legal advice to university administrators,
faculty, staff and others on federal and state laws, statutes,
regulations, and Regents and University policies and procedures. The
successful candidate will provide timely, accessible, sound legal advice
and representation to the university with a critical focus on highly
complex and sensitive matters in the areas of labor and employment.\
\
In addition, the candidate may be responsible for providing legal advice
regarding campus safety, research integrity, litigation, internal
dispute resolution, depositions and/or mediations, conducting legal
research, policy review and development, contract review and
negotiation, legal presentations and training seminars, preparing
correspondence and legal documentation and/or serving as a legal advisor
to university campus boards and committees, and other duties concerning
the full array of legal issues arising in the context of higher
education. May supervise staff.\

A strong preference will be given to candidates with ten or more years
of employment law experience.\

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:\
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited school
- Six (6) or more years of relevant employment law experience
- License to practice law in the state of Kansas or admitted to
membership within 12 months of hire
\
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ten (10) or more years of law practice experience
- Three (3) or more years of higher education law practice, whether
in-house, law firm or government agency
- The successful candidate will also demonstrate a high level of
effectiveness in the following areas:
- Exceptional research, writing and oral skills
- Initiative and intellectual curiosity
- Excellent judgment, attention to detail, organization,
timeliness, and follow-through
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with
coworkers and clients
- Strong analytical, options-based, and problem-solving abilities
in partnership with client workgroup(s)
- Strong work ethic and professional integrity
- Ability to retain perspective and sense of humor
