GENERAL SUMMARY:\
The mechanic I will report to the Production supervisor and will be
responsible for fixing tractors as well as other farming implements. The
Mechanic will use specialized skills and experience to diagnose any
problem equipment or farm machinery might have and generate a
cost-effective solution. This position will include tasks ranging from
working on an engines electrical system to welding cracked pipefitting.
The Mechanic will maintain equipment in good repair and functioning at
its full potential through preventative maintenance and/or any required
repairs.\
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\
Using a high degree of independent judgement, assumes the responsibility
of a wide range of repairs such as (cultivators, compost spreaders,
pressure nozzles, etc.) Diagnoses defective equipment and/or machinery,
troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems. Analyzes and interprets
the equipment manuals. Interacts with the parts department to ensure
parts are available for repairs and inventory. Effectively uses
specialized tools to measure wear on internal working components of
engines and transmissions. Dissembles and assembles equipment. Maintains
a clean and safe work environment and adheres to all DFF safety
policies, procedures and instructions from management.\
Collaborates with team members from other departments to ensure repairs
are done in a timely manner.\
Performs welding or fabrication duties as needed.\
Provide assistance as needed to other mechanics troubleshooting
repairs.\
Performs other duties as assigned/required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT\
The physical demands and work environment described here are

Workers must be able to work day shifts or night shifts as needed.\
Some qualified workers may be requested to be working team leaders. Some
properly licensed workers may be requested to transport workers between
housing and worksite locations. Workers will be required to perform
routine maintenance and major engine overhauls. Workers will exam and
listen to machines, motors, gasoline and diesel engines, and equipment
for operational defects. Workers will dismantle defective units, using
hand-tools. Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand-tools and
shop tools. Workers will replace components, such as carburetors, fuel
pumps, generators, ignition points, and spark plugs. Reassembles,
adjusts, and lubricates machines and equipment to ensure efficient
operation. May install and repair wiring and motors to maintain
electrical system. May assemble and erect new farm machinery and
equipment. Workers will Test-drive vehicles and or equipment to ensure
that they run smoothly. Workers will keep shop and workspaces clean.
The employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified
worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to but
does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for
the employer to grow a premium quality product.
During certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to
accomplish a certain task. When engaged in teamwork activities workers
must coordinate ith other members of the team to accomplish the task.
All applicants must have at least 6 months experience as an agricultural
equipment mechanic. Workers must be able to diagnose\
problems and repair farm machinery engines and machines including but
not limited to tractors, forklifts, harvest equipment, irrigation, and
spraying equipment. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job
references from recent employers operating comparable operations
establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to
meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order.
