POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Equipment Specialist is a technical position assuming various years of experience. This job requires advanced technical skills as well as hands-on experience in machining, turning, grinding, and other metalworking fabrication methods. This position requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand geometric tolerancing. Additionally, this position requires the ability to perform conversational programming on knee mills and lathes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Able to apply comprehensive and diverse machining principles and practices to broad assignments under the direction of management
Act as a mentor to junior staff
Requires ability to fabricate parts and assemblies of all levels of complexity with efficiency and accuracy
Requires ability to solve problems of significant scope and complexity
Able to work under minimal supervision
Requires thorough understanding of the fixture designs and the ability to make detailed design recommendations to improve fixture performance, user interface (ergonomics), and process yields
Requires knowledge of processing/manufacturing technologies related to the medical device industry (injection modeling, stamping, assembly methods, and various fastening techniques)
Demonstrated ability to specify and recommend purchase of tools, equipment, supplies, and able to work with outside vendors in obtaining quotes
Fabricate, assemble and debug fixtures, gages, and tooling to facilitate efficient assembly of products
Verify accuracy of work utilizing various measuring techniques
Give feedback on material and design recommendations to the Tooling Engineers on equipment builds
Demonstrated exceptional mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated ability to work to tight tolerances (+/- .0005")

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree, vocational school, or related experience
10+ years of experience in a comparable position
Machining experience
Computer/data entry skills
Verbal communication skills
Problem solving/troubleshooting experience
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
