Naval Facilities Engineering Command HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSER (MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR) in Mayport, Florida

Responsibilities You will perform the inspection, receipt, inventory, database entry, segregation and storage of hazardous waste. You will prepare processed and non-processed hazardous waste for transport. You will operate transport and handling vehicles such as forklifts, stake-body, box and vacuum tank trucks, and other lifting equipment to load and transport materials. You will assist in collection of water, air, soil, and other hazardous waste samples using varying collection devices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: WG-07: You must complete a 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operators Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training within six months of employment. You must pass the Department of Transportation and biennial refresher HW DOT training. You will be required to obtain and maintain within six months of employment a Government forklift operator's license and a hazmat (H) endorsement on their CDL. You must already possess a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake endorsements. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of the license with your application package in order to receive further consideration for the position.) Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: WG-07: Ability to do the work of a Hazardous Waste Disposer without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by: 1) Placing hazardous waste in appropriate containers; 2) Assisting with processing hazardous waste for storage and disposal; 3) Inspecting hazardous waste containers, storage locations, and labels; 4) Operating forklift and other container handling equipment, and 5) Performing hazardous waste pick-ups, transportation of hazardous waste, general hazardous waste characterization, and packaging and storage of hazardous waste.
