This posting is for an IMAP Supervisor (Transportation Supervisor I) within the Division 10 IMAP Unit in Charlotte NC. This position will supervise several groups of Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) responders in responding to and clearing roadway incidents. Employee will develop work schedules, assign routes for surveillance, provide in-house training in incident response, and maintain training records. Employee will operate an Incident Management Assistance Patrol vehicle and will interact with emergency personnel and law enforcement at roadway incidents, coordinate temporary traffic control and alternate detour routing, conduct daily tailgate and monthly safety meetings, evaluate roadway conditions, direct the clearance of more complex freeway incidents, review, check and compile daily reports, prepare and submit payroll data, coordinate emergency and preventative maintenance for IMAP equipment. Employee will participate and provide data in the critique of incidents during Inter-Agency Team Meetings. Employee will administer purchase order contracts (i.e., uniforms, satellite facility maintenance). Employee will monitor and assist with equipment utilization and will be responsible for ensuring an adequate inventory of IMAP related materials and supplies. This position is subject to emergency call back, scheduled night/weekend/holiday work, and work during extreme circumstances. This IMAP Supervisor position will be the 2nd shift Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Knowledge of Incident Command, and basic work zone safety
Demonstrate ability to communicate with the public, first responders, media, and staff in order to maintain a positive working relationship
Demonstrate ability to supervise staff including scheduling, tracking training, motivating, and counseling subordinates
Demonstrate knowledge of policies and laws regarding incident management, including NCDOT’s CMS policy and Quick Clearance Law
Additional Training/Experience:
Employees will need to successfully pass both classroom training related to safety, IMAP, and traffic management operations and a field assessment review.
The successful applicant must hold and keep current CPR Certification within 6 months of employment

Ability to work independently, think critically, make decisions under extreme pressure or in a hazardous environment. Working knowledge of fire safety, small hand tools, minor mechanical repairs, traffic control devices, two-way radio systems, dynamics of traffic control implementation. Ability to operate and maintain an IMAP truck. Ability to maintain basic first aid and CPR training. Ability to communicate with other units and response partners. Requires strong communication skills and aptitude for training incoming responders. All members shall maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance while on duty. Attention to personal hygiene is a requisite when in uniform. These procedures, regulations and policies are intended to promote the professional image expected by the department and to encourage good health for consistently optimum job performance while increasing public confidence. Must be knowledgeable of NCDOT Policies and Procedures. Working knowledge of Basic Work Zone Safety and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices. Knowledge of maintenance, construction, and incident management operations within NCDOT. Knowledge of two-way radio systems and phone communications. Employee may be subjected to hazards on the roadway and highway traffic. Employee will be subject to emergency callbacks. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety toe shoes required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and six years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience. Experience must be related to functional area of the work that the position will supervise.
