The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Vice President GS APAC, the Business Unit Project Management Director is responsible for the newly raised project management function. The role of the position specifically, is ensuring that the project management capability, frameworks and activities are aligned to the strategy of the BU and the wider KBR business.The Project Management Director will also provide mentoring, guidance and advice to the operational Lines of Business and the Strategy & Business Development teams in regards to project management problem solving, project implementation and design, suitable candidates to fill positions and process/procedures relating to the project management discipline. The incumbent will be seen as a thought leader that also represents the KBR company externally to further its market position with customers and prospective employees.The role requires both direct and in-direct leadership of people and is responsible for governance and compliance with business policies and quality and technical assurance requirements. Essential to the Project Management Director position success is a client-centric approach both internally and externally to KBR in a Defence and broader Government security environment.The role is part of the GS APAC Senior Leadership team and as such, a regard for the whole of the Business Unit function, strategy and performance is required.

This position is permanent, full time and can be based in either Canberra, Melbourne Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide.

Responsibilities:

  • Functional responsibility for the project management workforce through the operational Lines of Business.

  • Ensuring that the project management workforce competencies and size is reflective of the current and future Business Unit needs as defined by the Lines of Business and the Business Unit strategy.

  • Responsible for the compliance of project conduct in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Implementation of tools and processes at a Business Unit and Line of Business level that reflect the operational needs of the Business Unit.

  • In partnership with the People & Culture function implement and maintain the competency framework for the Project Management workforce.

  • Provide expert advice to the Business Unit Vice President, the Senior Leadership Team and other senior leaders regarding risk, project solutions and issue resolution.

  • Collaborate with Project Management leadership within the wider KBR to facilitate the transfer of people, skills, technology and best practice to assure KBR performance and strategic objectives are met.

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to Health Safety Security and the Environment (HSSE) and Zero Harm and promote HSSE awareness whilst ensuring compliance with HSSE targets and policies.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Project Management or a related field.

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an project management function, preferably in a business unit or product-focused environment that operates within the Defence industry.

  • Proven experience in delivering complex projects under fixed pricing contracting model

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, including a proven ability to form and lead high performing large integrated project teams.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with key senior stakeholders both internally and externally in a Defence/Defence Industry environment.

  • Holds relevant Project Management professional body accreditations.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance at a minimum of NV1
