Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering in Melbourne, FL. Travel will be required primarily to the Cedar Rapids, Iowa facility and is anticipated to be 2-3 times per year.

Primary Responsibilities:
Execute objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.
Monitor the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.
Manage work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.
Research and evaluate investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems products and services.
Provide analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and develop verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Considers and evaluates alternatives accounting for similar metrics. Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs architectural exploration. Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Avionics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in a Systems Engineering role in the Avionics industry. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Avionics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years in a Systems Engineering role in the Avionics industry would be acceptable.
At least 2 years of experience as a Flight Test Engineer, including developing flight test hardware, developing test data capture capabilities (software programming), generating flight plans and logistics, developing flight test plans, analyzing flight data, and preparing flight test reports;
At least 2 years of experience using Python;
At least 1 year of experience developing test frameworks;
At least 1 year of experience working on an agile project, in any of the agile roles; and
At least 1 year of experience working with the RTCA Minimum Operation Performance Specification (MOPS) documents, specifically RTCA DO-185, DO-178, and DO-160.
The salary range for this position is $121,035.00 to $161,000.00 per year. This is the correct compensation range. Please disregard any additional verbiage noted below pertaining to the salary range.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
