Positions overview:

The Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has an opening for a Research Associate (RA) with research interests in applying X-ray-based coherent diffractive imaging (CDI) tools at synchrotrons and X-ray free electron lasers to materials and systems of particular interest to the Department of Energy. The RA will also help support the X-ray microscopy and tomography program at SSRL (roughly 50%). This will include user support and participation in the planning and implementation of the transmission X-ray microscope upgrade.

The goal of the project is to explore the current coherent diffractive imaging characterization tools for a broad range of energy related materials with particular focus on catalysts and microelectronics. The RA will develop expertise in the different CDI techniques to be able to understand the current gaps and limitations in realizing high quality imaging on relevant catalyst and microelectronics samples, especially under operating conditions and accelerated degradation conditions. The RA will have the opportunity to publish lead-author manuscripts and to build a career in X-ray science, materials and/or quantum science, or a future teaching career.
