POSITION SUMMARY
Receive and stage merchandise by department, mark appropriately for placement in facility, and deliver merchandise to appropriate department. Stack received merchandise on pallets or carts. Complete requisition forms for inventory and supplies. Notify manager/supervisor of low stock levels in a timely manner. Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock. Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, consistency, and quality throughout case lots. Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items. Adhere to food safety and handling policies and procedures across all food-related areas. Organize, clean, and sanitize all refrigerators and freezers, floors, food equipment, and drains. Remove empty pallets, cardboard, and trash and place in proper storage areas.
Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications. Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print). Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
Main Responsibilities
Perform duties of a Stock Controller within the F&B Department of the Hotel as directed by Management.
Receive all daily deliveries from different suppliers. Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items and communicate to appropriate management.
Must be willing and able to take full responsibility and ownership of tasks that falls or allocated to them.
Maintaining minimum GUEST service standards at all giving times.
Managing costs by practicing FIFO to avoid expired stock in the storerooms.
Actively being involved in all stock takes
Ensure stock in the storerooms are always neatly packed and locked away.
Ensure stock levels are accurate, up to date and notify manager/supervisor of low stock levels in a timely manner.
Maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness in these areas of work.
Encourage TEAM work by being an excellent example of a TEAM player.
Ensuring requisition / transfers of stock are performed on a daily bases to ensure smooth uninterrupted operations within the Hotel across all outlets.
Maintaining an updated recording keeping system, both electronica & hardcopy.
Ensure timeless workflow for invoices, credit and supporting documents.
Assist in daily F&B Department operations if necessary, as directed by Management.
Extensive understanding of stock and product knowledge within the Food and Beverage offering will be an advantage
Basic Competencies - Fundamental competencies required for accomplishing basic work activities.
Basic Computer Skills - Uses basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.).
Mathematical Reasoning - Demonstrates ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly, correctly, and in a way that allows one to solve work-related issues.
Oral Comprehension - Demonstrates ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Reading Comprehension - Demonstrates understanding of written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents
Writing - Communicates effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
A qualification from an accredited tertiary institution for Hospitality, would be an advantage.
Good knowledge on handling of stock
Knowledge of basic accounting calculations
Valid driver’s license (Code B)
2 years’ experience in a similar position.
Excellent communication skills in English, written, verbal and telephone etiquette.
Extremely passionate about this industry, a TEAM player with a positive attitude.
Well groomed, presentable and professional manner.
Industry broad based knowledge & skill would be an advantage
