Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Mechanic Intern (High School) in Mercer, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION OF WORK The responsibilities of the student include assisting mechanics with a variety of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties for a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. The student intern also provides repair and maintenance work on hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems, and manual and automatic transmissions.

Equipment used under direct or close supervision include the hand grinder, drill, diagnostic tool, acetylene torches, arc welder, and air operated tools.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location This internship will take place in the summer or fall of 2024. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:

You must be at least 16 years old at time of hire. You must be in a junior- or senior-year status during the 2024-25 school year. You must have completed sophomore year of high school at time of hire. Additional Requirements:

Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity. Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position. By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position. Must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational training program that has prepared the student for the duties and the description of work described in this posting.
