MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and HII Nuclear Inc.
MSTS is seeking a Hoisting and Rigging II to support the Hoisting and Rigging Program within the Fleet, Fuel and Equipment Department, under the Site Services Division at the Nevada National Security Site, (NNSS) in Mercury, Nevada.
Interface with equipment manufacturers as required to modify equipment (i.e. auxiliary data plates).
Perform regular emissions testing on underground diesel-powered equipment.
Participates in developing field programs and designs using pre-determined principles and practices.
Prepares or contributes to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals.
Performs design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.
Frequent coordination of discipline information within their discipline, other departments within the company, and outside vendors on moderately complex projects. Works with outside contacts as required to obtain relevant information.
Develops a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines.
Perform regular load testing on various types of equipment.
Follows established engineering and technical procedures and instructions.
Often serves as a member of work teams.
Defines and develops specification writing for the procurement of new vehicles and equipment.
Monitors work of technicians and other support personnel working on their projects.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Inspection Hoisting & Rigging Department.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees
Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering
Or Professional Engineer license
Plus at least 2 years’ relevant experience.Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge; graduate research experience may be recognized.
Ability to interpret codes and standards applicable to the position.
General understanding of hoisting and rigging requirements as it relates to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B30 series regulations.
Possess a general knowledge of construction and rigging equipment/tools such as loaders, scrapers, overhead cranes, slings, shackles, chains etc.
Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Possess excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Should be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada). Area 6 is located in the forward areas of the NNSS.
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.
