Job Description
Primary Job Function
The Director, PCS Price Forecasting, will be responsible for leading the PCS Price Forecasting team to ensure we translate the value of our assets into optimal price guidance & contracting solutions, within our integrated access strategies, across early to late-stage pipeline AbbVie assets.
The early to late stage pipeline portfolio at AbbVie is complex covering a variety of therapy areas, including, but not limited to, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Eye Care, and Specialty.
In addition, the Director, PCS Price Forecasting, will be responsible for supporting the assessment of price potential for external acquisition and business development teams assessment of long term revenue projections through provision of price potential for the US market.
This position reports to the Director, US Strategic Pricing / IRA.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Pricing
Maintain a broad understanding of US Pricing / Market Access / Reimbursement issues by therapeutic area in order to objectively assess their impact on US gross and net pricing
Manage a team of strategic pricing associate directors across Immunology / Oncology and Neuroscience / Eye Care / Specialty to liase with the Market Access strategy team to inform and shape asset price potential and implications, by proactively engaging and contributing through existing governed processes
Providing timely strategic input and shape Asset & Indication specific US Pricing strategies across the “Therapy Area” alongside input to Therapy Area & Portfolio strategy, to accurately reflect the asset price potential.
Ensuring timely development by the team of short and long-term US pricing guidance over the asset lifecycle (e.g. early price range, late stage price potential, pricing corridors and price guidance), in line with the corporate strategy, brand vision, Integrated Access Strategy and asset value, in close collaboration with the GMAP TA access lead.
Identifying and defining pricing hypothesis, scenario analysis and risk-mitigation strategies to be assessed, supporting the development of the integrated access strategy and pricing guidance, in collaboration with GMAP TA asset lead, Market Access Strategy, brand teams, Finance, DSG and other relevant key stakeholders; responsible for the methodological approach to be used in the conduct of qualitative/quantitative pricing analyses.
Provide subject matter expertise and review of primary and secondary pricing market research using appropriate methodologies aligned with the Strategic Pricing Framework (eg qualitative and quantitative pricing research using value justifiable, willingness to pay, cost benefit, affordability methods), and engage with external experts, to inform the development of the US pricing strategy and guidance.
Ensuring effective and timely development of asset indication sequence in close collaboration with the Market Access Strategy TA asset lead and other key partners, and endorsement by appropriate governance bodies
Collaborate with Market Access Strategy to drive the creation of contracting guidance, to mitigate access risks and payer objections.
Provide input and guidance on the pricing potential for business development opportunities by undertaking rapid assessments with the best available data to identify the risks and opportunities that may affect the final asset valuation.
Operational Pricing
Coordinate and ensure appropriate review and approval of launch pricing business cases across Therapeutic Area and for preparation of the review by Executive Leadership
Ensure alignment and harmonization of provision of pricing information and collaboration, across pricing and finance processes (plan, LRP)
Ensure timely development of the pricing guidance and for driving strategic pricing input in financial processes (LRP, plan), as well as driving reviews of strategic pricing assumptions with US stakeholders.
Serves as an internal Subject Matter Expert on strategic & operational pricing and analytics, providing where necessary training to the organization on pricing or analytical approaches.
Aligns with the International Pricing Systems Lead so that they may run International Reference Price and cross-country/region impact analysis to inform LRP, PLN and business cases.
Leadership & Management of PCS Price Forecasting:
Developing a high-performing team with strategic and operational responsibilities within US Pricing organization, through recruitment, development, and retention of key talent
Providing regular performance feedback, development planning and coaching to direct reports
Monitoring project progress, facilitates prioritization of team’s activities, manages workload, and ensures appropriate resource allocation, to meet critical deadlines under challenging time constraints.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and organizational leaders, in US Pricing, US Market Access Strategy, Global Market Access and Pricing (GMAP), Asset Leadership, GMCO, GCD, US Market Access, Finance and DSG.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
Proven track record in pharmaceutical industry and understanding of pricing / market access, commercialization process is required, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Ability to understand data management and reporting with a basic awareness of the possible technology platforms and solutions that can be leveraged.
Knowledge and hands-on experience in the following aspects is required:
designing or implementing US / global pricing strategies and scenario assessments.
Demonstrated appropriate level of leadership. Requires high levels of competence, confidence, and credibility.
Ability to communicate value drivers supporting pricing initiatives and their impact on business; ability to communicate financial impact of pricing initiatives on overall business objectives are required.
Ability to synthesize, critically analyze, efficiently communicate large volume of information, develop identify risks, recommendations and implement solutions is required.
Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written and ability to consistently provide clear and concise written and verbal communication, excellent presentation skills.
Ability to manage workload to meet critical deadlines under challenging time constraints.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make decisions without full data set or with ambiguity and uncertainty.
Desired:
Prior line management, coaching and development experience.
BS (required) or Masters (preferred) in Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Health Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or any other related quantitative field.
Knowledge of US health care systems and pricing environment is highly desirable.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Salary: $151,500 - $288,000
