Your role and responsibilities

The Automation - ALM Brand Technical Specialist is responsible across the life-cycle for high quality technical solutions to provide business value to clients and other IBMers, based on IBM ALM Portfolio. Technical Specialist may work with the sales team to support proofs-of-concepts and technical activities (demos/architecture workshops) to help the client decide which product offering best fits their needs. He/she may work with Architects and Project Managers to provide the deep skills necessary to implement one or more aspects of an end-to-end solution needed for an enterprise quality application deployment. Technical Specialist might work in support organizations to answer questions to improve client self-sufficiency, solve problems that arise with ALM offerings, or provide serviceability feedback to Development based on client feedback and product usage. Depending on their technical specialty. He/she may integrate hardware, software, and network solutions to ensure the solution meets requirements and are technically viable in the client's platform (Cloud and/or hybrid). The need for Technical Specialist spans the entire solution life cycle from end-to-end including Requirements, Design, Development, Deployment, Operations, and Support. Technical Specialist help clients in the implementation of products and technology to realize the desired business value and outcomes, and thus often may require knowledge of the customer industry and how the customer uses IBM products. The scope of work for technical specialists typically grows over their career to extend beyond their specialty to require other professional capabilities such as architecture, consulting and project management, including development of methods, best practices and tools used by fellow practitioners.

The scope of this Job Role includes preparation for new or changed services, management of the change process, and maintenance of regulatory, legal, and professional standards, management of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, and management of bought-in services including, for example, public network, virtual private network, and outsourced services. Typical examples of the deliverables are Document of Understanding (for a PoC), solution configuration, architecture diagrams.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • To deeply understand key concepts of IT infrastructure management such as: data processing, networking, storage, virtualization, containers, monitoring and cloud concepts.

  • To identify differences, benefits and arguments to adopt different features of ALM platform such as inventory, order management system, project planning.

  • To engage in conversations related to deploy an ALM Platform, considering: customer operation requirements, regulatory mandates, industry trends.

  • To discuss key architectural components to migrate infrastructure and applications from On-Premise to Cloud model: integration issues, portability, data structures, security.

  • To understand local laws and regulation, industry frameworks best practices related to industry asset management.

  • To explain a real business case where Asset Management Lifecycle was the core of the solution or architecture that the candidate took part of, and participation in sales cycle.

  • To understand metrics of usage and concepts related to sizing software/cloud solutions for ALM.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • To have experience with some IBM Automation and IBM ALM, IBM Sustainability and Order management systems.

  • Understanding of asset lifecycle management frameworks.

  • Cloud Platform certification by IBM, Google, AWS, Azure, such as: Cloud Digital Leader, Associate Cloud Engineer, CISCO CCNA.

  • Technical experience in an ALM domain such as Order management, Inventory management, project planning, purchasing processes, preventive or corrective maintenance.

  • Experience working in dynamic team environments and cross-functionally with teams such as Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
