The SCCC Post Award Team is seeking a Sr. Sponsored Program Specialist (Post-Award) (Hybrid/Remote). The Sponsored Program Specialist is responsible for the post award administration of all sponsored projects coded to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC). We ensure accounts are set up correctly for all new awards that come in, prepare monthly reconciliations, manage grant expenditures, compile financial reports to be submitted to the sponsors, and close out expired sponsored projects. We also provide guidance on post-award administration topics including allowability of cost on sponsored projects, effort certification, cost share, and other compliance related topics.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Accesses applicable database(s) to verify regulatory compliance approvals before establishing of the project account.

  • Monitor, review and reconcile award budgets, balances and expenses. Expenses must be allowable, allocable, and reasonable in accordance with grant terms and conditions, the budget limits and period of performance.

  • Conduct periodic reviews for assigned sponsored awards (portfolio reviews), including monitoring spending trends, transaction review/approval, resolving small balances on awards, tracking cost sharing commitments, and monitoring of subrecipient expenditures.

  • Review, approve and perform salary redistributions and journal entries as needed to ensure proper expenditure accounting.

  • Processes and disseminates various non-financial post-award actions such as award notifications, amendments, and related documents.

  • Coordinates budget revisions with faculty/project lead.

  • Assists in the coordination of the project closeout.

  • Identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies or errors found within research accounts. Resolution will require coordination with the applicable faculty members, ORA staff members and other departments.

  • Recognize gaps and suggest ways to improve effective business practices, standing operating procedures as it relates to award financial monitoring.

  • Submits to accounts payable all received and endorsed invoices and tracks timely payments by that unit.

  • Serve as subject expert on the financial monitoring of awards and provide training to research personnel.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Prior experience analyzing data and formulating conclusions.

  • Ensure provision of excellent customer service to SCCC members and peers.

  • Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities, as determined by the Post-Award Manager.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
