Microsoft Corporation Data Center - Critical Environment Technical Coordinator in Middenmeer, Netherlands

As a CO+I Critical Environment Technician, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for short-, mid- and long-term maintenance planning and coordination in accordance with the Microsoft runbook

  • Responsible for supervising day-to-day planning adherence by vendors and CE teams and coordinate any backlog with internal and external stakeholders

  • Responsible for maintaining and supervision of helicopter-overview on campus activities while ensuring uptime of critical equipment

  • Host and coordinate operation meetings with site CE stakeholders to inform, discuss and manage scheduled operations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as their first point of contact

  • To be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Data Centre System Interdependencies.

  • Be able to plan and co-ordinate planned and corrective maintenance tasks.

  • Have a proven track record in problem solving and the ability to identify maximize and leverage maintenance opportunities.

  • Have a good understanding of the financial impact of maintenance and reduce operational costs

  • Self-motivated, with ability to work on own initiative, but also as part of a team.

  • A good understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS systems, Battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, AC units, BMS, Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Suppression systems.

  • Take ownership of technical maintenance schedule and CMMS administration of schedule.

  • Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the Critical Environment (CE) domain.

  • The Technical planner will work closely with the technical supervisors and the CE engineering group for the planning and scheduling of operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified to Degree Level in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent

  • Data Centre or large-scale industry Mission Critical experience in a Technical Planning, Scheduling and/or Supervisory Role.

  • Computer literate with the ability to compile and submit monthly and annual reports, and to monitor and trend operational characteristics (load, capacity, environmental conditions etc.).

  • Good working ability on Microsoft Office Products, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with internal staff, and with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on DC systems.

  • Proven record of vendor performance management.

  • Proven experience with maintenance management/scheduling.

  • Experience working with organisational change management and continuous process improvements.
