Curtiss-Wright Corporation Engineering Intern in Middleburg Hts, Ohio

Engineering Co-op/Intern

Location: Middleburg Heights, Ohio

Duration: Full-Time Summer/Fall Semester: June -- December 2024, with part time available beyond this period. Pay range $20/hour

Job Summary

Participates in a cross-functional team to collaborate on 3d modeling, inspection, testing, technical contract/purchase order review. Reviews standards, quality requirements, and technical information related to Nuclear Power Plant mechanical items. Develops tolerances, technical requirements and manufacturing blueprints. Resolves issues and technical discrepancies. Utilizes coordinate measuring machine (Faro arm and table based), various metrology and gauges to identify the design/configuration of obsolete samples of mechanical items. Performs tasks in accordance with our Nuclear Quality Assurance program. Will also support other projects and initiatives as necessary.

The Challenge

  • Supports the evaluation of machining, assembly, & test processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, conferring with manufacturing engineers, and soliciting observations from assembly/test operators/production technicians.

  • Follows and establishes safe processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, and testing assembly/machining methods. Prepares/Updates written and graphical work instructions to communicate assembly/test requirements to production personnel.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Technology from an accredited university.

  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Someone entering junior or senior year preferred

Other Requirements/Skills/Abilities:

  • Lifting 50 lbs, Standing, Sitting

  • Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and understanding to support inspection, testing and machining departments through hobbies, clubs and activities.

  • Must have good communication skills and be a willingness to work as a team player.

  • Ability to work on a variety of technical problems of diverse scope in an imaginative and practical ways and evaluate alternative solutions that may require coordination across multiple teams.

  • Work as a team player.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, experience with AutoCAD or Solidworks

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
