WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The In-Plant Safety Specialist identifies and eliminates hazards in the workplace by ensuring compliance with our safety procedures in the plant. The individual in this position must know, understand, and be able to communicate our safety policies and practices to team members, and train and re-train team members on proper safety practices. Job duties include:

  • Ensure team members comply with all company policies and procedures and customer requirements.

  • Implement and maintain safety policies and procedures.

  • Follow Site Management, Area Management, Division Managements, VP, and Technical Services directives regarding issues related to Safety, Health, and Environmental.

  • Maintain regular communication with Site Manager, Safety, and Technical Services team.

  • Report all accidents and first aid following established accident and first aid reporting SOP, including reporting “caught-in” type accidents following established protocol.

  • Perform investigations at the plant level as needed including severe injuries, OSHA complaints, and when necessary to assist other departments.

  • Ensure all investigations are followed up and an action plan is implemented successfully.

  • Perform weekly safety audits, assist operations with corrective actions, and report findings by email to appropriate management.

  • Exercise independent judgement and issue disciplinary action or terminate team members for safety violations.

  • Complete the In-Plant Safety Specialist on the job training including regularly scheduled and completed safety training, making improvements to safety awareness, training consistency, safety performance metrics, and knowledge of management and team members.

  • Other duties as assigned.

YOUR MUST HAVES:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety related field or equivalent job experience.

OUR ENVIRONMENT:

This position reports to a processing facility that may have hot, cold, and wet conditions where the use of Personal Protective Equipment (“PPE”) is required. PPE may consist of a hard hat, rain jacket, rain pants, boots, goggles, gloves, etc.
