JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: The Medical College of
Wisconsin\'s Department of Neurology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant to support both the Neuro ICU and Neurohospitalist
Inpatient Services located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Froedtert
Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a
multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in
program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality
improvement, and teaching. This Neurology Department is fortunate to
have several fellowship trained Neurologists specializing in stroke and
both neurointensive and neurointerventional care, who can provide
state-of-the-art treatments. The clinical expertise assembled in the
Department of Neurology had resulted in JCAHO certification of Froedtert
Hospital as the first Primary Stroke Center in Wisconsin in 2004. The
Ideal Candidate will have a passion for working with medically complex
patients and bring prior experience as an APP/RN working with patients
of the Neurological services, critical care or other high acuity
hospital work who wants to be part of a thriving and very collaborative
academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). In this
role you will: Support the Neuro Critical Care and Neurohospitalist
services by collaborating with a large team of physicians, fellows, APPs
to admit, develop treatment plans and discharge patients with complex
primary neurologic problems. Primary patient population includes stroke
(hemorrhagic and ischemic), traumatic brain injury, seizure, spinal cord
injury, and post op neurologic surgery. Practice autonomously with
physician oversight on Neurohospitalist service to provide inpatient
floor care by managing medical problems and developing discharge plans.
Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote
continuity of care across the continuum of care. Work within a
multidisciplinary care team including resident physicians, physician
fellows, medical students, APP students and complete comprehensive grad
rounds on the Neuro Critical Care service to develop patient care plans
and attend didactice lectures to further clinical experince. Core
