Overview This is an onsite position located in Milwaukee. The
Manufacturing Engineer- Gearing provides technical expertise to the gear
manufacturing operations and gear inspection teams, applying engineering
knowledge to optimize quality standards for gears and splines. Job
Responsibilities Understands and uses UTS Gear Engineering software for
calculating sizes, creating dxf files, designing long lead tooling,
plots of gear teeth and other data necessary for creating process
sheets. Uses solid models to create setup sheets Creates and maintains
NC programs for; Gear Hobbers, Gear Shapers, Gear Grinders and Gear
Inspection machine tools Helps design hobs, cutters and grinding wheels
Creates and maintains all cutting parameters on process sheets used to
machine a gear. Develops new and improved manufacturing methods (DFMA)
Evaluates equipment and processes to ensure capability of meeting part
requirements. Leads or assists projects to upgrade, replace, and procure
new equipment Identifies opportunities to reduce cost, improve
productivity, safety, quality, velocity, OTD, etc. Assists the
development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain
proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Read and
interpret quality standards and specifications Requisition all gear
cutting tools Participates in pre-production product-design reviews and
engineering efforts to ensure manufacturability of new product design
Assists with routing operation sequence, PFMEA\'s and cost estimates
Develops, maintains, and documents setup sheets using SOLIDWORKS for
numerically controlled machines. Establishes machine speeds and feed
rates and configuration of cuts using vendor software unique to each
