Position Summary Under the direction of department leadership, the Organ Donation Specialist is responsible for the screening, evaluation, and clinical management of the potential organ donor. The Organ Donation Specialists demonstrates sensitivity and empathy when offering donation to a potential donor family, providing support and compassion during and after the donation process. Responsibilities Coordinates the organ donation process including screening for medical suitability, clinical assessment, and medical management of donor candidate, including histocompatibility and serologic testing of the donor Collects and documents medical data and donor medical and social history as related to the procurement process and communicates accurate and pertinent information about the donor to the transplant and/or procurement surgeons.
