This entry level, full-time, benefits eligible position presents a great opportunity to receive exposure and development in human resources at the University of Minnesota. The HR Coordinator's primary responsibilities are to provide full-cycle recruiting support, process hiring paperwork, facilitate onboarding, and assist in coordinating other human resources and payroll functions. This position provides HR liaison support for multiple departments in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) as well as back-up for other department liaisons in the college. This position is hybrid, with some on-campus days required and flexibility in start/end times. This position is represented by the AFSCME Clerical Union, Local 3800. The hours are M-F, 8:00-4:30. The work location is on the Minneapolis campus. The minimum starting pay for this position is $21.84/ hour ($45,427.20 annually). Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the college. Job Responsibilities Hiring & Staffing Support (60%) Manage the hiring process from beginning to end for faculty, staff, graduate assistants, student positions, temp/casuals, and adjunct faculty. Initiate and administer the online recruitment process by drafting accurate job postings in the University's recruiting system, posting jobs to internal and external outreach sites, gathering search materials, and managing candidate statuses in Recruiting Solutions. Provide search committee support for staff and faculty searches. Maintain search files, provide general search guidance, request EOAA data on applicant pool, schedule interviews, communicate with applicants throughout the recruitment process, and escalate concerns to the Senior HR Partner or HR Director. Ensure HR processes and documentation are completed for hires, including drafting and sending out appointment letters, emailing new employees with hiring paperwork, completing the I-9 verification, submitting background checks, gathering work study forms, and collecting degree verification documentation. Submit appointment data to the CEHD payroll team through the PAPAYA system to ensure accurate information and compliance with University and CEHD policies. Image offer letters and other HR documents into department files and the CEHD electronic personnel file as appropriate. Provide onboarding support and orientation to new personnel. Send the first day of work email, provide the onboarding checklist including employee information (ID & x500), and provide additional information on department policies, processes, and resources. Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment. Coordinate with faculty, staff, and students to complete all required training such as Sexual Misconduct, FERPA, Safety of Minors, and other training, as assigned. Human Resources Coordination (30%) Maintain position management for the department, working with the Department Administrator and CEHD HR to create and make changes to p sitions. Monitor the expected end date report on a biweekly basis for upcoming terminations. Work with supervisors to confirm the end date or extend appointments as needed. Submit and monitor appointment and payroll-related changes to the CEHD HRMS team via PAPAYA. Coordinate persons of interest (POI) requests and submit to CEHD HRMS team for entry. Monitor reports regularly and request ending of POI relationships as appropriate. Serve as a resource for employees and students regarding benefits, leaves, payroll, time/absence, and general human resource related issues and questions. Escalate questions to the appropriate department administrator and CEHD HR team member on complex questions or policy interpretations. Maintain and implement a working knowledge of CEHD and University HR policies and practices. Draft HR memos, provide support on HR projects, and back-up department HR liaisons as directed. Payroll & Reporting (10%) Review time/absence reports, stop pay report, and the payroll preconfirm on a biweekly basis to ensure accurate entry of compensation data. Work with the CEHD HRMS team on any changes that are needed. Run foreign national expiration reports and communicate with affected employees and students on upcoming document expiration dates. Direct foreign nationals to connect with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). Update the Senior HR Partner, supervisor and Department Administration. Run and manipulate ad hoc reports, as requested. Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of related office experience. Education may be substituted for some of the years of experience. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom. An interest in developing a career in human resources or prior HR work experience. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience in coordinating multiple projects or work tasks. Proven ability to pay attention to detail. Experience working in an office/administrative environment at the University of Minnesota or another higher ed institution. Experience using HRIS or recruiting applications.
