As a lead expert of OIT's Data Infrastructure Management agile team, you will provide technical guidance to recommend, architect and operate a stable infrastructure to meet the needs of the University and champion the continuous improvement of existing data storage management practices. You will work closely with collaborative cross-unit teams who make up the entire IT stack to achieve shared goals. You will also guide and inform the work of colleagues in other teams. This position requires the ability to operate within industry standard practices, adapt to and quickly learn new processes and technologies, and handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with a close attention to detail and minimal oversight. This position is a vital part of the success of data storage at the University. This role provides the technical authority to drive technical strategy, architecture, and implementation of OIT's Data Infrastructure Management service, processes, and documentation. Leadership of technical peers is a focus of this position. As a subject matter expert to the University community, this role will provide a consultative balance between the capabilities of the data management infrastructure and the needs of the institution to enable informed decision making with regard to best practices and their application to University digital data assets spanning across the entire enterprise, with a strong focus on Research data sets. Job Responsibilities: Serve as an Data Infrastructure Management Engineer and subject matter expert in the design and implementation of enterprise-wide systems. Adhere to industry standard practices. Provide operational support. Fulfill the role of Tier 3 for escalated service desk support. Maintain environments that adhere to audit compliance (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI as required). Participate in PI planning activities while owning and defining user stories. Work closely with the team to address daily prioritization, provide real-time input, and update the team board. Collaborate with IT professionals across the University system to identify, establish, and measure service level agreements (SLA), service level indicators (SLI), and service level objectives (SLO). Identify manual or repetitive tasks and automate them. Implement consistent incident classification by prioritizing SLO's impact and error budget consumption. Design, plan, build, and implement monitoring tools and dashboards that promote visibility, transparency, and early detection in a complex technical environment. Qualifications Please document qualifications on resume Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus at least 4 years of relevant experience, Master's degree plus at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience. Technical and architectural leadership in designing and maintaining diverse and secure data portfolios. Best practices of data management, efficiency, and delivery to enterprise-wide user base. Expertise in data flow from all operating systems and servers, data lifecycle management, and data analysis reporting and visualization with an emphasis on Service operational health Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, DFS administration, SMB share creation, modification, and permissioning Extensive cu tomer support experience. High level of comfort assisting non-IT customers on best practice application of technology and data storage. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with common industry standards, models and frameworks such as LEAN/Agile, SAFe, ITIL, PCI, etc. Experience with configuration management, automation tools, and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Powershell, Github.
