Financial Consultant, Neuroscience Portfolio FP&A

In this business critical role, you will assist in coordinating and consolidating financial results for Medtronic’s Neuroscience Portfolio. You will collaborate extensively with finance teams across the Neuroscience portfolio to provide meaningful insights to assist the organization in decision making. You will play a critical role leveraging financial systems, to assist the organization in making data driven portfolio decisions. This role is highly visible, interfacing with several operating unit FP&A teams, the corporate FP&A organization as well as Neuroscience Portfolio and broader Medtronic leadership. This position will be responsible for one direct report.

This position will report directly to the Finance Director of Neuroscience Portfolio and will be a key financial partner to the operating unit FP&A teams.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs and analyzes, variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning, and expense comparisons for analysis of P&L statements within the Neuroscience Portfolio. This includes insights on OU led markets, Region led markets and our Enterprise Operations.

  • Investigates financial results, prepares, and assists in the production of key month-end close reporting activities.

  • Prepares insights to management and develops leadership presentations in support of key executive meetings and reviews.

  • Performs and analyzes financial modeling, provides analysis and consolidation of Neuroscience Portfolio, including free cash flow components (Capital and Inventory), and other ad-hoc analyses.

  • Assist the AOP budgeting and rolling forecast process. This includes development of timelines, communication of key dates, guidance, etc. to plan process around budgeting and forecast cycles.

  • Perform complex financial modeling, economic analysis and trends related to Neuroscience Portfolio markets, P&L, capital expenditures, working capital, & free cash flow.

  • Support the development of monthly and quarterly financial review packages.

  • Collaborate with Strategic Finance / Portfolio Management subject-matter experts on insights to assist the organization with investment decision.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting

  • OR Advance Degree with 8 years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting

Nice to Have

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA, CFA, MBA in Finance or a Master’s degree

  • Strong quantitative analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Exceptional performer with high degree of initiative and self-motivation

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to operate within a complex organization (matrix) and various levels of management

  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously while appropriately prioritizing

  • Demonstrated ability to manage to tight deadlines, along with flexibility to changing priorities

  • Experience with business partnering

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to work effectively under uncertainties

  • Hyperion/Essbase experience

  • Prior people leader experience
