Hennepin County Internship: Graduate Fellow - Data Analyst Salary in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Salary $22.00 - $24.64 Hourly Job Type Internship Job Number 25SPA831MH013 Opening Date 03/11/2025 Closing Date 3/25/2025 11:59 PM Central Description The Integrated Data and Analytics (IDA) and Strategic Planning and Initiatives (SPI) departments are jointly seeking to hire a data analyst graduate fellow to contribute to the shared work between these two teams supporting departments across the county. The fellow will support the county s priority of reducing disparities in the community by working alongside SPI Strategic Planners to analyze whether county programs and services are producing equitable outcomes for residents (equity analysis). The fellow will be managed by IDA and will collaborate with SPI on the equity analyses that are done in parallel with strategic planning processes for county departments. The fellow will be responsible for analyzing census, community, and county data to gain insights into who is benefiting, who is burdened, and what are the unintended consequences of county services, programs, policies, and practices. The fellow will source, extract, and analyze data to create and present insights to diverse audiences. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Government Center 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, other Hennepin County facilities, and remote as job duties require. This internship will start beginning of summer 2025 with flexibility on start date and last one year in duration. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. 5 p.m. The fellow will work 40 hours/week during the summer and 19 hours/week during the academic school year. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or be willing to relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. Source data for new and ongoing projects that do not already have pipelines set up. Query, transform, and clean data from a variety of sources. Analyze data using a racial equity lens to identify trends, patterns, and insights about who in the community is benefitting or being burdened by specific county services, programs, policies, or practices. Translate technical findings into accessible language and insights that can be used to inform strategy development to reduce disparities and improve the lives of all county residents. Develop and deliver reports and presentations, visualizing data in engaging ways, and effectively communicate insights to diverse audiences. Participate as a thought partner to develop the county s approaches and practices of applying a data-informed, racial equity lens to county services and systems.
