Performs laboratory tests or other laboratory work using conventional and computerized machines and work aids. Performs laboratory work and tests according to prescribed standards. Determines chemical and physical characteristics or composition. Sets up, readjusts, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments. Enters a variety of data to maintain records, update information, and track results. Responds to basic or standard customer questions regarding formulas and the mixture process. Cleans, maintains and calibrates standard equipment and maintains a clean and safe working environment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tests using conventional and computerized machines and work aids.
Conduct laboratory work and tests according to prescribed standards.
Determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition.
Set up, readjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
Enter data to maintain records, update information, and track results.
Respond to basic or standard customer questions regarding formulas and the mixture process.
Clean, maintain, and calibrate standard equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Two years of post-secondary education in the field of specialty or equivalent education and experience combined.
Experience in laboratory work, chemistry, research, and quality control.
Ability to mix, measure, and formulate chemicals.
Experience with experiments, synthesis, and batch processing.
Experience in color matching and working with liquids, coatings, and paint.
Basic math skills.
Proven good organization and documentation skills.
Proven ability to take direction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
One year of chemical lab experience preferred.
Experience in color differentiation.
Good organizational and documentation skills (verified with references).
Ability to follow directions (verified with references).
Work Environment
This is an industrial lab environment, not a clean room or biological lab. The position offers flexible 1st shift hours, Monday through Friday, typically working an 8-hour shift starting at 7/8 am until 4/5 pm, with core hours from 8 am to 4 pm. The dress code is business casual, and a lab coat will be worn. The company is known for promoting from within, although the expectation for this role is to be in it for 9 months with a possibility of conversion.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
