In this role you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team and will report to the Sr. Sourcing Manager of Global MRO. This is a role that provides the opportunity to identify and execute value-driven strategies across many functions, regions, and businesses. These strategies will leverage Medtronic’s global scale to drive year over year value within the MRO Industrial Supplies and Services sub-categories. In this role, you will partner with the center-led business engagement teams to implement pan-Medtronic category strategies across the globe.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify strategies across subcategories of the MRO Industrial Supplies and Services portfolio that utilize multiple levers/approaches to drive value

  • Work independently and build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers

  • Work with Sourcing Systems team to ensure internal purchase catalogs are continuously updated to support guided buying processes reflective of broader category strategy

  • Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to create and implement strategies; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage

  • Gather market intelligence and trends for relevant categories and associated subcategories

  • Achieve (year-on-year) value improvements for all aspects of quality, service, innovation, and cost

  • Perform RF(x) events to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized

  • Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (e.g., legal, finance, quality/compliance)

  • Assist in Supplier Stratification activities and develop capability roadmaps

  • Lead contract negotiations

  • Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership

  • Educate on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies

  • Develop robust data gathering and data quality maintenance protocols to ensure spend transparency and support development of baseline for sourcing cost reduction efforts

  • Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities

  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing successful category strategies in the MRO/Operations space

  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI

  • Critical thinking

  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, problem solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated strength in analytical skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Global Category Management experience (Strategy Development and Execution in accordance to Strategic Sourcing methodology)

  • Knowledge of working in FDA regulated industries

  • Ability to partner with and influence internal technical experts

  • Influencing teams and external suppliers to deliver results

  • Strong program management skills

  • Solid business and legal acumen

  • Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
