Medtronic Principal Financial Analyst in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Supply Chain Function is responsible for balancing supply and demand across the organization; ensuring we have the optimized amount of inventory to meet worldwide demand for Medtronic’s vast array of businesses and products.

This position reports to the Supply Chain FP&A Sr. Manager and will partner with multiple stakeholders to provide timely analysis, insightful guidance, and financial leadership to the Supply Chain teams. This role requires extensive cross-functional partnership with various supply chain, finance, and regional teams to implement best practices, build capabilities and drive improvement across the supply chain Functional Expense cycle, including expense, headcount, and project management/forecasting/reporting.

This position will also provide financial business partnering support for Supply Chain leadership and be responsible for developing processes, financial models and frameworks that enable better business decisions impacting supply chain metrics and support continuous improvement.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

The focus of the Global Supply Chain FP&A team is on processes surrounding expense, headcount, and project management, systems, forecasting, analysis, and reporting. Our responsibilities are to drive standardization and simplification across global Supply Chain; produce and consolidate the numbers; and simplify processes to ensure efficiency and sustainability. This role will provide financial visibility to leadership to influence decision making and drive business results. In addition, this finance position will be responsible for analysis essential for supporting strategic initiatives and achieving key Supply Chain metrics.

  • Perform financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities to support quarterly forecasts and annual planning (AOP) for Overhead Functional expense/capex and Project Cost Centers

  • Own the headquarters Global Supply Chain cost centers process. Complete monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting, analyzing results, identifying issues, and explaining trends and variances to plan and forecast; providing insights to business partners and other stakeholders that helps draw connections between accounts to drive action and business results.

  • Proactively identify areas of risks and opportunities.

  • Business partner by working closely with leaders to forecast, analyze, communicate, and understand business drivers/results.

  • Support various strategic Supply Chain initiatives through financial modeling, adhoc analysis, reporting, and project management efforts to influence decision making and drive business results.

  • Consult with various cross-functional team members and be a thought partner on complex business issues and analytical opportunities across Supply Chain / GO&SC FP&A

  • Partnering with the Data Analytics and Insights team on Cost Center Reporting development and/or optimization. Including roll out of dashboard training to GSC and being expert/though leader on dashboards.

  • Own and coordinate execution of annual GSC’s EBIT Neutral process in conjunction with Corporate guidance during Annual Operating Plan

  • Bring a mindset of continuous improvement to all aspects of the job, including recurring processes and stand-alone projects.

MUST HAVE: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of finance experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years finance experience

  • Strong leadership, business partnering and influencing skills; has strong ability to partner with senior leadership and others and builds relationship networks at all levels

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

  • Ability to balance detail and big picture

  • Ability to think big (strategically) and dive deep (tactically)

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Experience with Medtronic financial systems:SAP, Global Planning System (GPS)/Cost Center Planning Tool (CCP), and Essbase/Hyperion

  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, trend/driver analysis, and problem solving

  • Desire to learn and to develop for future opportunities and job growth

  • Ability to travel less than 10%

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
