SUMMARY Mortenson is hiring a Senior Manager, Internal Communications to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive internal communications strategy that aligns with Mortenson's business objectives, values, and culture. This role will serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, ensuring effective communication that enhances engagement, alignment, and transparency across the organization. This person will manage and mentor a small team, overseeing communications for both craft and non-craft team members while driving innovation and continuous improvement in internal messaging. RESPONSIBILITIES Enterprise Communications: Responsible for enterprise-wide internal communications, including strategic initiatives, company-wide changes, and crisis communications. Develop and implement a company-wide internal communications strategy that drives alignment, engagement, and transparency. Partner with key departments (HR, Marketing, Operations) to develop and distribute timely, relevant, and engaging team member communications. Ensure internal communications align with and reinforce external branding and corporate messaging. Oversee internal communication channels (intranet, newsletters, emails, digital signage, etc.), ensuring effectiveness and continuous improvement. Executive & Leadership Communications: Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on messaging, change management, and team member engagement. Support executive and leadership communications, including speechwriting, presentation development, and messaging strategies. Prepare leadership for internal forums such as town halls, fireside chats, and employee Q&A sessions with key messages and talking points. Oversee the creation of executive briefings to ensure leaders are well-prepared for internal engagements. Develop leadership communication toolkits to support consistency in manager-led messaging. Develop and manage an executive visibility strategy to enhance leadership connection with employees. Craft authentic messaging that aligns with company goals, values, and strategic priorities. Support executive engagement through live events, video messages, podcasts, and digital content. Communication Planning & Execution: Lead the development and execution of communication plans for major company initiatives, business priorities, and cultural transformation efforts. Support crisis and emergency communications, ensuring timely and effective messaging to employees. Manage the editorial strategy for the company intranet and other internal channels to ensure timely, engaging, and impactful content. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Marketing, English, Communications, or equivalent field Minimum of ten years' experience developing and executing communications strategy and programs in a corporate environment Demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality communication materials and support Proven leadership in internal communications with experience influencing senior executives. Strong writing, messaging, and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Expertise in change management, employee engagement, and organizational communications. Ability to travel up to 15%. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
