Job Summary Senior Systems Administrators at Surescripts are responsible for implementation and operational support of a broad variety of technologies in both our private and public clouds. As a senior member of our Operations Systems Services team, we expect solid documentation and communication skills, including the ability to accurately plan and track work on projects in collaboration with variety of partner teams. As a member of our broader production Operations group, our Systems Administrators do not support end user systems and software; you'll never be asked to troubleshoot a printer, and your skillset and experience should reflect that. Systems Administrators at Surescripts are an experienced role. This position is specifically focused on growing the team's Linux OS experience. While this is not exclusive, and you will be required to have at least some familiarity with basic Windows operations, we are looking to grow the Linux skill-set within our team as our overall distribution of systems shifts away from a 50/50 split to being more heavily weighted towards Linux. As an integral part of the US healthcare infrastructure, we focus heavily on trust and security at scale. Our systems administrators must stay abreast of modern technologies and security practices and be able to understand how new technologies and threats can impact our ability to securely manage our production operations. The Systems Services team partners heavily with other teams across Surescripts' technology organization to collaborate on automated, reliable, and secure systems. As a member of the Systems Services team, Senior Systems Administrators will be called upon to support and help implement new technologies and execute on new security objectives as Surescripts continues to grow, evolve and develop new services. Responsibilities Participate in development of strategic goals and plans for infrastructure systems. Collaborate on implementation of new technologies and solutions, applying them in both public and private cloud environments in ways consistent with industry best practices as well as consistent with security design and requirements. Implement enforcement of policies and procedures, following best practices to ensure system security. Deploy new systems, physical and virtual, public and private in stable, consistent and repeatable ways. Participate as a member of our 24/7 on-call rotation, collaborating with other operations groups during both planned and unplanned events. Participate in maintenance tasks, patch management, incident remediation, monitoring, systems review and continual improvement to enhance performance, stability, and security in accordance with established change control protocols. Monitor, test, and tune system performance, configuring and using system log files and performance metric data as needed. Support application development teams throughout project and deployment lifecycles Document processes, policies and procedures, both new and existing, when needed. Help to automate the management, maintenance and resiliency of Surescripts' public and private cloud infrastructure. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, and best practices for maintaining regulatory compliance. Develop, document, and maintain materials and systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff. Conduct cross-training of peers, groups, and stakeholders. Qualifications Basic Requirements: 5+ years of relevant, progressive experience in Systems Administration 3+ years' experience working in public or private clouds 2+ years' experie ce working with highly available storage systems 2+ years' experience automating systems and infrastructure processes Preferred Qualifications: Expert level experience in Linux (RedHat or RockyOS preferred) Experience creating and using Ansible (Ansible Tower preferred) Experience operating in public facing, production environments Experience operating in secure and data-sensitive environments Public Cloud Experience (GCP preferred) Container management and orchestration experience (kubernetes preferred) Experience working on physical, datacenter systems, including non-structured cabling Surescripts embraces flexibility through its Flexible Hybrid Work model for most positions. At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $106,700 - $130,500 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
