This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2024-2025 academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt. Applicants will only be contacted should an active opening occur during the academic year. Positions may be appointed any time during the 2024-2025 academic year: late August to late May summer 2025. The role of Stage Manager is to run the rehearsal room, technical rehearsals and performances. Stage manager will work with undergraduate student performers and serve as a teacher/mentor to undergraduate assistant stage managers. Stage manager will also work with graduate designers and an undergraduate crew to bring the production to fruition. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Rehearsal and Tech Pre-Production duties as required Attend meetings Ensure that the rehearsal room is ready for rehearsal and assume active responsibility for the rehearsal room in conjunction with the rest of the SM team Send out Daily Rehearsal Reports and Daily Calls Assemble and maintain the Prompt book Work with the production and creative team during rehearsal and after Opening Run technical rehearsals ensuring the safety of the cast, crew and all involved Performance Attend and call each performance Send out Performance Reports Maintain integrity of the show to the best of their abilities Qualifications Required Qualifications: Previous experience as a theatrical stage manager Must be available nights and weekends; Work schedule varies and includes almost all evening and weekend hours Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google suite - specifically Word, Excel, and Zoom Preferred Qualifications: Calm / Professional demeanor, sense of humor encouraged Exercise good judgment and discretion Ability to work with students as a teacher and mentor Superior organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and to maintain a positive work atmosphere About the Department About the department: Housed in a public research university located in a vibrant metropolitan area, the University of Minnesota Department of Theatre Arts & Dance is a collaborative hub for education, research and training in the diverse field of Dance and Theatre. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $20-$30 per hourdepending on education/qualifications/experience.
