Wage Range: $21.68 - $31.25 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role.     JOB SUMMARY

    Performs environmental services tasks for acute care hospital and associated clinical spaces. Maintains records and logs as required. Safely uses chemicals and machinery. Actively participates in departmental performance improvement projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to Hospital’s Policies, Procedures and Philosophy of Care.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING :AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

    High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Preferred minimum of one-year experience in commercial, non-residential cleaning. Basic math skills required.

    SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Must be able to operate a variety of equipment. Must be able to work independently and perform basic housekeeping tasks. Must have clear communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact appropriately with the internal and external customers. Will use personal protective equipment as appropriate, and attending training related to blood-borne pathogens is required. Must have some knowledge of universal precautions, OSHA regulations, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

    Adheres to all Federal and State regulations pertaining to hazardous materials. Hazards include, but are not limited to, risk of exposure to communicable disease, Blood Bourne Pathogens (BBP), household and commercial chemicals, hazardous waste, and risk of injury from operating equipment.

    WORK CONTACT GROUP: All departments, personnel, patients, visitors and the public.

    SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Light to moderate lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull. Stands and walks for most of the working day.

    SUPERVISED BY: Environmental Services Supervisor/Manager

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TECHNICAL

  • Prioritizes daily work schedule to maximize work efficiency and meet service timelines.

  • Maintains the sanitation and cleanliness of the hospital.

  • Follows all infection control protocols, demonstrates proper hand washing procedures.

  • Immediately performs STAT orders as assigned.

  • Sweeps, mops, and vacuums and moves furniture if needed to clean thoroughly.

  • Demonstrates proper use and storage of chemicals. Wears personal protective equipment as appropriate.

  • Cleans equipment at end of shift.

  • Cleans furniture and dusts surfaces within the facility. High dusting completed, using the deep cleaning schedule.

  • Cleans walls, ceilings and horizontal surfaces within the facility (includes but is not limited to: baseboards and corners, countertops, pictures, shelves, room fixtures and waste containers).

  • Handles and distributes clean and soiled linen per department guidelines and policy.

  • Removes trash from waste receptacles cleaning (as required) and relining for further service.

  • Maintains a professional appearance, demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills and interacts appropriately with the internal and external customers. Attends all in-service meetings and performs required annual training.

  • Hangs cubicle (privacy) and shower curtains.

  • Reports any repairs needed by submitting a work order or notifying Supervisor/Manager. Reports any unsafe and/or potentially dangerous conditions immediately.

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW .
