Wage Range: $22.31 - $33.12 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role. JOB SUMMARY :

Adheres to Hospital’s Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Health & Healing principals.

Operates equipment and performs hard floor and carpet care procedures to maintain hospital floors in a safe, sanitary and attractive condition. Performs environmental services cleaning and material handling tasks on a daily and project basis. Completes Environmental Service maintenance records as required. Uses supplies and equipment in a safe manner. Actively participates in hospital and department Quality Improvement program. Performs sanitation aide duties when requested. Performs additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE :

Minimum of one-year experience in commercial or hospital floor care required. Able to read, write and speak English.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

Must be able to operate a variety of equipment. Experienced in floor care and carpet cleaning procedures such as stripping and refinishing, buffing, carpet shampooing and extracting desired. Must be willing to perform basic housekeeping tasks and follow instructions with minimum supervision and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Bi-lingual preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS :

Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease and risk of injury from wet floors and operating equipment. Risk of exposure to chemicals, medical and hazardous waste. Work is highly visible and performed while hospital business is being conducted. Adheres to all state and federal regulations pertaining to exposure to hazardous materials BBP.

WORK CONTACT GROUP :

All hospital staff, patients, families, vis­itors, medical staff, the public, and governmental agencies.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Moderate to heavy lifting (50 pounds). Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, push and pull. Stands and walks for most of the working day.

SUPERVISED BY : Director of Plant Operations/Housekeeping Manager/Leads as assigned

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TECHNICAL

  1. Maintains hard floors and carpets in a clean, aseptic condition in all patient care and public areas of the hospital.

  2. Vacuum, spot clean and pre spray hospital carpets. Bonnet clean, water extract or dry clean (Host) carpet on routine or as needed basis.

  3. Dust mop, machine scrub and high speed buff hospital hard floors on routine or as needed basis. Dust mop again after high speeding.

  4. Spray buff or recoat hard floors to maintain appearance.

  5. Strip and refinish hard floors at least once per year or more often as needed. Clean and prep corners and edges. Do not over finish cover base, doors, walls, etc.

  6. Follow special infection control procedures for scrubbing and maintaining floors in surgical and invasive procedure areas.

  7. Pick up trash, soiled linens, medical waste, recycling and other materials in clinic areas and hospital.

  8. Move furniture and set up tables as requested. Jump car batteries; may change tires when safe; or fill tire with air.

  9. Assist housekeepers and laundry aides with emergency calls and positions when needed. Uses proper PPE as required and performs all duties in a safe manner.

  10. Respond to hospital codes, disasters, and emergencies.

  11. Secure external doors on evening shift at specified time. Report any security issues to Nursing Supervisor and Director of Plant Operations.

  12. Degrease and clean kitchen hood and adjacent areas on monthly basis.

  13. Use wet floor signs and follow all safety procedures while doing floor care.

  14. Clean up equipment and pads and store properly. Report or turn in work order for mechanical or electrical problems.

  15. Chart floor care as completed. Pass on any pertinent information to next shift or supervisor.

  16. Performs related cleaning task and projects as assigned. Attends all in-services and performs required annual training offered by the department.

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW .
