Village of Monroeville Police Chief in MONROEVILLE, Ohio

The Village of Monroeville, Huron County, Ohio, is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Chief of Police. Monroeville has a population of approximately 1,300. It is a close-knit community with several large companies including Berry Global, Underground Utilities, and Janotta & Herner.

Monroeville strongly embraces its public and parochial schools. In the past few years, a sports complex, new parks, a new track and field complex, and baseball/softball fields have been constructed.

The successful candidate will be a "working" Chief in that they will be required to perform the duties of a patrol officer. For example, they may be required to perform road and foot patrols, business checks, traffic stops, and respond to calls in all types of weather and conditions.

The Monroeville Police Department staff consists of a Chief, one Lieutenant, three full-time officers, and seven part-time officers. The department employs state of the art equipment and has a working budget of approximately $673,000.

Minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:

  • Be a current certified police officer through the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy and current on all CPT (Continued Professional Training) required training.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of full-time law enforcement experience, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
  • Be knowledgeable in police procedures, equipment, investigative methods, current laws and court opinions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form and prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Must have practical experience working with government budgets, grants, purchasing procedures, and scheduling.
  • Pass an extensive background check.

The current pay range for this position is $62,400 to $93,600, commensurate with training and experience.
