Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the position.

Provide financial leadership for the Monterrey Plant, as well as, the plant finance department in meeting all financial and managerial accounting requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function for the Plant and be a key member and decision maker of the management staff and report on key plant operational and accounting metrics (recurring and ad-hoc).

  • Manage and influence resources to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period closing & reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and overall asset and liability control.

  • Analyze and report on key plant operational and accounting metrics. Present plant financial performance in various forums as required.

  • Supervise the department to ensure timely and accurate completion of plant accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period reporting, budgeting, and overall asset and liability control.

  • Ensure appropriate support of CLS’s divisional requirements and Corning Finance functions.

  • Ensure a strong internal control environment. Comply with US GAAP, Mexican Financial Information Standards, and Corning accounting policies. Maintain documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.

  • Experience resolving compliance and reporting issues, providing recommendations to improve processes and guidance to junior colleagues

  • Other functions and projects as assigned in support of plant, company operations, and business objectives.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Generally Mon - Fri, 40 -hour work week, additional hours as needed

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of financial and management accounting

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both English and Spanish)

  • Ability to be comfortable interacting and communicating with all aspects of the business, including plant staff and senior managers.

  • Sound cross functional skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Strong knowledge/experience with ERP systems (SAP, Khalix, People Soft)

  • Supervisory experience
