Overview
Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an
exciting opportunity with room for growth as a Heat Plant Operator.

As part of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team you will work as
part of a group and independently. This position serves the Capital
District in Montpelier, which includes the State House and many historic
buildings. The heat plant consists of two bio-mass steam boilers, an
oil-fired steam boiler, and related equipment. The Operator will be
tasked with running and maintaining all systems inside of the capitol
heat plant. This position may also be asked to assist with other duties
as assigned including but not limited to; electrical, plumbing,
carpentry, painting and lock repair.
This is a full-time position, and the hours are Monday through Friday
7am to 3:30pm during the off season, which is typically June to October.
During the heating season, typically October to May, the position will
work 12am to 8am, Monday through Wednesday (\$2.50 shift differential
will apply), and 8am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The position
requires a valid driver\'s license and successful completion of a
background check.

Environmental Factors
Duties are typically performed in a heating plant facility and may
involve varying work shifts. Need for overtime may occur. Operation and
servicing of mechanical equipment and high-pressure systems poses some
potential of on-the-job injury.
