Physical Therapy Aide Schedule:
8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
Objective: Performs routine tasks related to the operation of the therapy
department supervised by the
Director of Rehabilitation. Assists with resident related activities as
predetermined for each resident and
assigned by the Therapist/Assistant/Director.
Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual
must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill and/or

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Long-term care experience as a Nursing Assistant is preferred.
3. Verbal and written ability is necessary to understand oral and written
instruction, and to communicate with
the residents and other staff members.
4. Manual and finger dexterity is required to operate and adjust equipment.
5. Body coordination needed to assist in positioning resident comfortably in
wheel chair and in, at, or on
equipment.
6. Ability to perform a variety of tasks to assist the residents and the
therapist/assistant.
7. Capable of following standard procedures and deta iled instructions when
assisting with residents and
setting-up equipment.
8. Able to work with residents and show tact and consideration to secure their
cooperation.
9. Ability to observe all necessary precautions in the use of equipment.
10. Maintain current Drivers License (CO only).
11. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such
as timekeeping, in-servicing and
documentation.
12. Ability to perform clerical functions.
Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must

1. Transports residents to and from department.
2. Assists residents before, during and after treatment according to
procedures established by the therapy
staff.

3. Assembles and disassembles equipment as directed by the therapy staff.
4. Performs those treatment procedures assigned by the Therapist/Assistant
and under direct supervision
therapist/assistant. Assignments will be made in accordance with the
training that has been given regarding
the treatment to be done.
5. Follows established procedures pertaining to the care of equipment and
supplies, as assigned by the
Therapist/Assistant.
6. Prepares, cleans and maintains treatment areas and supportive areas in
the department .
7. Performs clerical functions as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation.
8. Observes residents and reports any unusual responses or incidents to the
Therapist/Assistant.
9. Follows regulations pertaining to the facility as established by Federal
and State agencies and Volunteers of
America National Services policies.
10. Notifies the Nursing Department when taking a resident away form the
nursing area and upon returning
the resident to their room or other resident activity area.
11. Performs other department duties or special assignments as directed by
Therapist/Assistant.
12. Attends required in-s rvices and completes assigned online modules.
