The Concessions Manager leads the overall business function of the athletics concessions, which is in direct financial support of the athletics department. The position will be responsible for leadership of the concession stand, hiring and training student workers, scheduling student workers, inventory management, cash management and working with vendors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Provide leadership and direction of the Concession stand inside Alex Nemzek Hall for hosted events/games.

  • Hire, train, and supervise student workers.

  • Approve all timecards and create schedules for the staffing of the Concession stand.

  • Perform a variety of budget and financial tasks independently.

  • Responsible for drawer countdown and reconciling the daily sales with Square POS.

  • Work with Athletics Senior OAS for the accurate cash and credit card compliance.

  • Maintains an active ServSafe manager license in addition to maintaining compliance with the Clay County Department of Health and State of Minnesota Health Code laws and best practices.

  • Ensures that all licenses and permits that are required are applied and renewed on an annually basis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • English skills sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers to develop, modify, evaluate/improve, interpret, and explain administrative and department policies, practices and procedures; and maintain complex records, files, notes, and logs.

  • Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, calculate cost.

  • Word Processing skills sufficient to use software such as Microsoft Word and Excel to create, format, edit, print & save a variety of documents including spreadsheets, tables, charts, graphs and other business software applications to collect, query and analyze data and prepare charts, reports, and presentations.

  • Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer’s needs and provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail and other written correspondence.

  • Ability to interact with all members of the campus community in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Lead work skills sufficient to train and guide the work assignments of student workers.

  • Accounting/budgeting/expense reporting skills sufficient to monitor and balance multiple budgets to ensure that spending is within budget guidelines.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school graduate

  • Experience working in higher education.

  • Supervisory experience

  • Strong customer service values

  • ServSafe certified or the ability to complete certification within 45 days
