Morehead State University Human Resources Generalist in Morehead, Kentucky

The Office of Human Resources at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Human Resources Generalist. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES: The HR Generalist is responsible for a wide variety of human resources activities for the University across multiple human resource functions including but not limited to employee relations, equal opportunity, organizational development, talent management and acquisition, benefits, compensation, total rewards, and compliance monitoring. The HR Generalist has the knowledge and ability to perform all duties and responsibilities but is assigned duties in specific areas as the primary day-to-day tasks.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience related to the duties described above. Professional in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) certification required. Must have excellent customer service skills and be proficient in oral and written communications, exercise good judgment, must accept responsibility, and perform duties in an atmosphere of team-like cooperation. Excellent keyboarding and computer skills are required. Extensive experience with word processing and spreadsheet software. Must have the ability to work with minimum supervision. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in an institution of higher education. Ability to establish presence and credibility quickly - to become a trusted resource to employees. Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using sound judgment consistent with applicable laws. Demonstrated ability to apply data management and analysis tools in researching and analyzing various types of data. Ability to observe, understand and interpret ambiguous issues and apply critical thinking strategies to find solutions. Exceptional ability to gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics and provide recommendations to Human Resources Staff/Payroll Staff or leadership. Ability to objectively and effectively coach employees through complex, difficult, and emotional issues. Ability to maintain a level of confidentiality with all interactions and work products.SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
