Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute all postal functions necessary for efficient mail service provision.

  • Act as an alternate Custodian of Postal Effects (COPE), supporting primary custodial responsibilities.

  • Provide exemplary customer service regarding mail matters for base users.

  • Perform comprehensive mail handling tasks including collection, postmarking, processing, and dispatching, with particular attention to inbound mail classification.

  • Conduct scanning of accountable mail upon receipt at the post office and before delivery to customers.

  • Collect mail from designated collection points and appropriately pouch, sack, and tray mail items.

  • Maintain the postal directory service to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

  • Safeguard all government and U.S. Postal Service (USPS) property allocated for contractor use.

  • Manage and oversee the controlled area to ensure security protocols are adhered to.

  • Receipt for and dispatch registered mail to Naval Air Station (NAS) Rota in accordance with established procedures.

  • Ensure the proper receipt, handling, and delivery of all accountable mail items.

  • Receive and dispatch both personal and official mail to designated delivery points.

  • Perform postal driver duties as needed, utilizing Retail Systems Software (RSS) for customer financial transactions.

  • Assume responsibility for a flexible account comprising funds, stamps, and money orders.

  • Maintain and upkeep all equipment necessary for postal operations.

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization within all work areas related to postal operations.

  • Report directly to the Postal Supervisor, providing updates and insights as necessary.

  • Adhere strictly to all relevant government procedures, regulations, policies, instructions, directives, and plans.

  • Fulfill any additional postal service associated duties as assigned by management.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • US citizenship with a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) if required for handling, processing, or delivering registered mail.

  • Active US Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain.

  • Possession of a valid US Driver's License.

  • Familiarity with core competencies of functioning in a Military Post Office (MPO) or civilian equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of Postal experience.

  • Possession of qualifications matching those of a Postal Specialist (Air Force Specialty Code 3F5X1) as outlined in the Postal Manual or equivalent.

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active US Secret Clearance

  • Use of computer, phone, copier/scanner, radio, and in general all administrative materials during accomplishment of work.

  • Skilled in using computer-based Microsoft Office word, excel etc.
