rrPosition Summary:

r The Department of Mathematics and Statistical Science at the University of Idaho is seeking to appoint a full-time instructor in mathematics education and introductory mathematics. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching courses in mathematics education and introductory mathematics (i.e., algebra, trigonometry, and/or pre-calculus). The instructor will collaborate with faculty in mathematics education and with introductory mathematics faculty, staff, and the Director of Introductory Mathematics. There may also be opportunities for collaborative work with the mathematics education group at UI in research and assessment. The instructor will also be expected to participate in department meetings and serve on department, college, and/or university committees.

rrMinimum Qualifications:

• Masters or doctoral degree in mathematics or education.
• Experience teaching mathematics at either the secondary or college level.
• Experience teaching mathematics education courses for pre-service teachers or providing professional development opportunities for in-service teachers.

rrPreferred Qualifications:

r

• Doctoral degree in Mathematics Education or a related field.
• Experience conducting mathematics education research.
• Experience with grants.
• Experience teaching mathematics at the K-12 level.
• Experience teaching mathematics at the university level.
• Experience teaching algebra, trigonometry, or pre-calculus.
• Experience with teaching using active learning methods.
• Experience working as part of a team in an educational setting.
• Experience with computer-based mathematics education and testing systems.
