POSITION DETAILS
Position Title: Parking Enforcement Specialist
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Grade: 5
Reports To: Police Captain

BASIC FUNCTION
Patrols specific areas within the City limits of Moscow and the
University of Idaho campus zones
to enforce parking regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The incumbent shall work well under pressure; meeting multiple and
sometimes
competing deadlines.
The incumbent shall maintain composure in a variety of settings while
managing
customer requests.
The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with
colleagues,
supervisors, and members of the public.
Patrols assigned areas monitoring for compliance of parking regulations.
Issues and processes citations.
Answers questions from the general public.
Reports abandoned or stolen vehicles.
Keeps records as required.
Testifies in court.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED.
Some experience in dealing with the public is desirable.

REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Drivers License
Successful completion of all pre-employment testing procedures which may
include, but
are not limited to, a background investigation and a polygraph
examination.
COMPETENCIES
Ability to acquire knowledge of parking regulations.
Ability to operate a computer data entry terminal.
Ability to effectively deal with the public.
Must be capable of working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Must be able to walk long distances.
Must be able to work independently.
Microsoft Suite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Outdoor work
Seasonal heat and cold, and temperature changes.
Regular exposure to fumes, dust, and odors.
Driving a vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Walking over rough or uneven surfaces.
Climbing stairs.
Bending at the waist, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Turning/twisting.
Speaking and exchanging information.
Contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.
Driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions.
Fumes from vehicle or equipment operation.
Extreme weather conditions.
