Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for an Automation Engineer position at our main office in Mounds View, MN. We offer Professional Technical Services to our Clients in the US and abroad. This position works closely with other engineers, project managers, and Client team members in support of both capital and operational improvement projects. The position requires implementing sound engineering principles to ensure project designs are safe and at the industry s cutting edge. An ability to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively with team members is of the utmost importance to this position. In this position, this person will be managing and executing assigned projects from Firm Leadership. This will include coordinating with end-users, vendors, contractors, and others to successfully execute and deliver desired results on-time and within budget. Primary Responsibilities Design electrical and Fluid schematic packages by laying out I/O, designing magnetic circuits, fusing, control panel layouts, bills of material, and cable layouts. Performs the required sizing calculation for power, heat dissipation, wire sizing, fusing, etc. Performs the required calculations for Control System network layout and traffic analysis. Work with Client to develop project scope and estimate. Develop proposals and carry project through completion. Leads large projects by defining and issuing work to assigned team members or runs multiple small projects with minimal direction. Creates all project documents according to internal processes to ensure that designs meet Client s expectations. Creates Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs and HMI applications from User Requirements or Functional Specifications. Specify and configure VFD and Servo drives for applications. Performs system validation according to scope documentation and project requirements. Directs assigned team in the field and assigns priorities consistent with project needs; reports progress to project and engineering management. Willingness to travel, up to 25%
