Medtronic’s Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) group is looking for a motivated person to work in a Principal Systems Engineering role in continuation/sustaining engineering for Ventricular Assist Device systems. You will be the point person for all systems activities within MCS, working closely with MCS leadership, regulatory, quality, project managers and other cross functional partners. You will be able to dive in deep technically and contribute to design and process change initiatives that will make a real difference to our patients in a unique environment.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) operating unit and requires on-site presence three days a week.

A Day in the Life

In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Principal Systems Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

· Drive organizational alignment of system solutions through influence.

· Partners with the business to assess feasibility and identify technical risks and make recommendations when exploring solutions or long-term opportunities.

· Understands the overall performance of products within the business unit and helps to identify the most meaningful improvements.

· Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

· Expert in systems integration, including, software, hardware, usability, and interface design.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline

· Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering and/or Quality or advanced degree in Engineering, Science, or technical field with 5 years of relevant work experience in Quality and/or Engineering

Nice to Have

· Engineering experience within the medical device industry

· Ability to use information exchange, influence, and active persuasion without direct exercise of command to gain cooperation of supporting functions.

· Experience in representing system solutions to regulatory partners and during audits.

· Experience in working with external contract manufactures.

· Experience in working with human factors, technical communications groups in performing patient and clinical manual updates.

· Six sigma green belt or black belt certification.

· Experience in working with implantable medical devices, either VADs or other implantable systems.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc. 

Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
