Description
This position teaches applied music lessons, specifically guitar lessons, to students within RCBC’s Music Department. The Applied Music: Guitar courses (2 credits) involve one-hour weekly private lessons/ instruction to align with 4-year institution requirements. Lessons are offered in person on RCBC’s Mount Laurel Campus at a time mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor. Students registered for applied lessons are also expected to attend a performance class and to perform a final juried exam during finals week. This position may also teach guitar ensembles. Based on prior experience, credentials, availability, and interest the opportunity to teach other music coursework is a possibility.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual and group guitar instruction to students, focusing on both classical and contemporary techniques
Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student.
Prepare students for performances, recitals, and examinations.
Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the music curriculum and participate in departmental activities
Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Stay current with developments in guitar pedagogy and performance practices.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public. Adjunct faculty work with our Department Chairs, Coordinators, and Administrative team to ensure successful course delivery for our students.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Master’s degree in Music Performance, Jazz Studies, Contemporary Commercial Music or a related
field.
Experience Required:
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements
Proficiency in both classical and contemporary guitar styles.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
In order to enable Adjunct Faculty to be effective and to meet the requirements associated with relevant teaching conditions, RCBC has outlined 1) appropriate Technology Tools and, 2) a minimum level of proficiency with the Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System (LMS)
1) Technology Tools
Adjunct Faculty should have access to a computer less than 6 years old and equipped with a webcam and microphone, as well as reliable high-speed internet service.
2) Blackboard Ultra LMS
Adjunct Faculty are required to successfully complete a self-paced, online Blackboard Ultra LMS training
with a verified level of proficiency.
Additional Information
Assists college with student outcomes assessment efforts and/or Program assessments if need, by participating in the planning, data collection, and/or reporting as relates to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes.
