PACCAR Inc. Material Handling Specialist Job in Mount Vernon, Washington

The Material Handling Specialist is responsible for receiving, shipping, storage, and distribution of parts, materials, and supplies within the facility under limited supervision. Works independently to meet operational objectives. Acts as lead and trains contract personnel hired to support operation when needed. Work is reviewed for overall accuracy, completeness, and soundness of judgement. Get started! The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc. through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Responsibilities: Accomplishes all receiving and shipping of materials: Receiving: Inspects, completes all paperwork, enters into computerized receiving system. Identifies all items, ensures proper storage or distribution, and distributes paperwork as required. Shipping: Checks Shipping Authorizations for approvals, packages items, determines best method for shipping based on cost and arrival deadline, completes waybills, enters in computerized shipping system, and distributes paperwork as required. Maintains records and location files for all parts and materials stored within the facility. Maintains proper inventory of departmental supplies stored in the warehouse. Identifies, labels, stores, picks up, and delivers materials as required. Distributes incoming material or stores as required. Operates forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks and company vehicle for pickups and deliveries. Keeps managers/peers/division personnel informed of work progress, support, problems or opportunities of which they should be aware. Utilizes Situation Leadership basic principles and key actions in work activities. Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all employees. Shares information and learns from others as appropriate. Observes established safety policies/procedures in daily work activity. Promotes safety in work environment at all times. Maintains good housekeeping. Maintains knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals used on the job and stored in the warehouse. Follows PTC Hazardous Chemical Procedure for acquisition of hazardous chemicals. Requirements: * High school graduate or equivalent with three to five years of related work experience in warehousing, distribution, and/or material control. * Good driving record with valid Washington State driver's License essential. * Experience with computers desirable. * Certified as fork lift operator. Will provide certification. * Certified in DOT Hazardous Material Shipping * Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment. * Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. * Verbal and written communication skills. * Computer skills are preferred (i.e.: Microsoft Office products).
