Google DfM Engineer, Devices and Service, Manufacturing Technologies in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing.

  • Experience in New Product Introduction (e.g., Process Engineering).

  • Ability to travel up to 25% internationally, as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes to include: rework processes (especially underfills), component footprint design rules, miniaturization, design or manufacturing analysis.

  • Knowledge of typical PCBA and product level failure modes and ability to relate failure modes to process, material, and design related stressors or expertise in writing scripts for automating DfM reviews.

  • Knowledge of surface mount assembly for flexible circuits including practices for material or Penalization.

As a Design for Manufacturing (DfM) Engineer PCB/PCBA (Printed Circuit Board/Printed Circuit Board Assembly) on the Manufacturing Technologies. As a part of the DfM team, you will work from prototype to NPI to commercialization of products. You will be the cornerstone of all PCB/PCBA New Product Introduction activities and will work with technical cross-functional teams in the development of new products.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $111,000-$163,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Support PCB/PCBA builds from concept to product launch, including build preparation, build reports and issue resolution with both design and manufacturing partners.

  • Identify and drive DfM or process improvements that reduce process cycle times and cost, while maintaining exceptional quality.

  • Partner in development of new advanced technology processes to achieve miniaturization.

  • Perform design analysis using applicable tools and processes.

  • Support CAD Engineers to improve designs, quality, and reliability while keeping cost in check.
