Vontier Technical Writer II in Mumbai, India

Purpose of Position:

The Technical Writer creates technical communication media that includes, but is not limited to instructions, user guides, configuration manuals, help systems, and other documents that comply with the approved documentation standards. The Technical Writer takes inputs from SMEs from different domains to produce documentation that is targeted for different audiences. Having knowledge about creating online trainings and video documentation is an added advantage.

The environment is fast-paced and priorities change frequently. The Technical writer will have to adapt to these changing priorities, and single-handedly manage the project needs with minimum/no supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and modify clear and accurate technical documents for hardware and web-based products (such as instructions, user guides, configuration manuals, help systems) according to MSTP and the Gilbarco Style Guide.

• Apply significant or complex modifications to existing documents and confirm that requested changes have been implemented.

• Communicate with the SMEs (local and onshore) to continuously adapt to the changing project needs.

• Experienced in performing self-reviews and implementing changes identified during peer, lead and technical reviews.

• Formulate questions, interpret specifications, seek out opportunities for first-hand experience with products.

• Should be able to create documents in an Agile environment and align the deliverables with the scrum requirements.

• Knowledge about creating marketing content, online trainings and video documentation is an added advantage.

• Should have good knowledge of generating product documentation using Adobe Framemaker. Should be able to develop new templates using these tools, if required.

• Communicate status, concerns, and needs with the Manager/Scrum owner.

Education & Experience: The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical writing, English, journalism, or related field.

• 5-7 years of technical writing or related experience.

Background and Skills:

• Excellent communication skills.

• Proficient in using Adobe FrameMaker; Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator experience is desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
