Peoples Bank Fraud Team Manager in Munster, Indiana

JOB SUMMARY

The Fraud Team Manager is responsible for developing and implementing best practices for all fraud functions consistent with the Bank's mission and strategic objectives. This person is a proactive team leader and team player.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the Fraud Teamincluding functional training, cross-training, and performance evaluations
  • Interact with external and internal auditors, compliance reviews, and examiners to assist in Bank audits and examinations. Follow-up and correct any items addressed and ensure necessary changes or recommendations have been implemented as directed.
  • Fraud Cases
    • Oversight of all customer fraud cases
    • Ongoing collaboration with all lines of business regarding fraud cases
    • Investigate escalated cases, digital fraud, account takeover, and identity theft
    • Work with law enforcement and other financial institutions to investigate fraud cases to resolution.
  • Reporting
    • Responsible for providing timely reporting and metrics to lines of business and Enterprise Risk Management Committee
    • Monthly balancing of fraud loss General Ledger (GL) accounts in a timely and accurate manner
  • Fraud expert
    • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to manage the acceptable level of risk, including budgeted fraud losses.
    • Develop and monitor fraud risk strategies for the purpose of fraud prevention
    • Conduct ongoing analyses to identify the root cause of fraud trends and propose potential solutions.
    • Work with training team to create training materials and conduct staff training for fraud processes and procedures.
    • Cultivate a network of contacts including fraud management professionals and law enforcement contacts
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, applicable laws, and regulations for assigned functional areas
  • Work together with other Bank Operations Team leaders to ensure consistency across the teams
  • Manage projects and lead change initiatives as opportunities arise
  • Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers
  • Maximize technology to provide a consistent customer experience
  • Comprehend, recommend, and oversee fraud solutions and processes
  • Develop and implement process improvements and procedural enhancements, employing business process automation and workflows
  • Oversee implementation of new technology or enhancement of existing technology to manage risk while driving value from vendor investments.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for technologies utilized, products, and vendor relationships
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned at the discretion of the Bank Operations Manager.
RELATIONSHIPS

The Fraud Team Manager reports to the Bank Operations Manager and supervises the Fraud team. This position interacts with bank wide departmental personnel of all levels, banking center locations, and bank customers. Contact is also required with various third parties including vendors and community and professional organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years' bank experience, primarily in fraud required
  • Supervisory experience is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of fraud and banking regulations
  • Excellent collaborative leadership and communication skills
  • Proactive and independent action-taker
  • Quick technology learner and early adopter
  • Sound judgement, analytical, and decision-making responsibilities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with related software tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, banking core, loan origination, processing, and servicing systems
